Cleckheaton Rotaract's 29th Charter night dinner, September 2006
Cleckheaton and district Rotaract club celebrated their 29th Charter in September 2006 with a four-course dinner, raffle, takings of wine and speeches from Cleckheaton Rotary and Cleckheaton Rotaract Presidents.
The feedback from guests suggested that the event was great fun, and well-attended with representatives from Rotary clubs in Brighouse, Cleckheaton and Friendly. The event was also attended by members of Cleckheaton's Inner Wheel and Spen Valley's 41 club. Fellow Rotaractors from Langley & Iver, Hagley, Rossendale, Keighley and Derby all joined Cleckheaton to celebrate 29 years of service, personal development, fellowship and fun that Rotaract represents.
After humorous takings of wine, the guests enjoyed dinner (though president Laura managed to catapult dessert into her lap), and then Cleckheaton Rotary President 2006 - 2007 Joanne Catlow toasted the club, looking back at the club's development over the past three decades.
Rotaract President 2006 - 2007 Laura responded on behalf of the club, stating the club's aims over the next twelve months, and noted the club's achievements over the last year. She also thanked the guests who joined the club on their special night, to celebrate Cleckheaton's 29th Annual Charter.
After the speech, the raffle was drawn and prizes included tickets for Huddersfield Town, Huddersfield Giants, shopping vouchers, bottles of wine, a meal for two amongst many other "unusual" raffle gifts!
Following the raffle, the disco was underway and as you can see, limbo dancing was clearly the order of the day!
All the proceeds from the evening will be donated towards the president's charity, the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.
