Each year, the president nominates one or more charities as beneficiaries for Cleckheaton Rotaract's fundraising efforts.
2006 - 2008: The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust
The nominated charity for 2006 - 2008 was the West Yorkshire Forget me not trust. Over a two year period Cleckheaton Rotaract raised £ 1651.24 in aid of the trust. The charity was founded in 1997 and aims to raise enough funds to build and run a children's hospice in West Yorkshire. The trust needs an estimated 3 million pounds to achieve this goal.
You can find out more about the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust at their website:
In July 2006, five Rotary and Rotaract girls undertook the "Race for Life" in aid of cancer research. They managed to raise approximately £ 700 for the cause.
Despite the blistering temperatures of 28c, the girls and five thousand other women managed to complete the 5km race at Temple Newsam, and they wear their medals with pride!
The girls would like to give their thanks to the following for all their kind donations: Srini, Jim Dempsie, Angela C, Karen Patten, Louise Gilbert, Joanne Ryder, Stephen Murphy, Kevin, Tom, Christine Mitchell, Mike Ramplin, Joan Kendall, Joyce Andrusiak, John Wainwright, Warehouse Systems Ltd, Tony & Gillian Kendall
2005 - 2006 The Yorkshire Air Ambulance
During 2005 - 2006, Cleckheaton Rotaract raised approximately £1000 in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service. The charity relies almost entirely on donations from public and sponsors in order to maintain its life-saving service. We managed to raise the money through a variety of means, including a black tie dinner, a sponsored walk, a pig racing night and of course the Mile of coins!
